A Grease Fire Grapple: Restoring An Atlanta Home After the Flames

As kitchen incidents are one of the most common causes of house fires, the kitchen appliances are often the source of blame. Restoration in the Aftermath of a Grease Fire

We received an urgent call in February of this year regarding a structural cleaning job in Atlanta. Upon arrival at the scene, our highly skilled and IICRC-certified technicians knew this would be an extensive restoration project. The home had sustained a grease fire that began in the kitchen and spread throughout the first floor.

The kitchen had a strong odor and charring across the walls. To ensure the safety of the homeowner’s belongings, a pack-out company moved them out of the home and sent them to a separate facility for deodorization and restoration. After the assessment, we dispatched a crew of eight technicians to begin demolition on the second floor as a precaution to prevent further collapse from the inside.

Fire Damage Restoration Efforts Continue

Our team safeguarded the internal structures, removing all damaged material. The studs and supporting structures were then thoroughly sanitized and, the remaining structures were repaired and prepared for rebuilding, leaving no stone unturned in the restoration process.

The crew followed up the repair process with deodorization. They placed state-of-the-art air scrubbers throughout the contaminated area to eliminate harmful residual smoke and odor. As a final precaution, they double-checked the odor levels by thermal fogging.
