10 TIPS TO PROPERTLY RESTORE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Happy 2020! Our PuroClean family wishes you the best for the year and we hope that you are back and recharged for a very productive week. This week the holidays are officially OVER for 2019-2020 and we are all back in business, but there is one big elephant in the room, and that is the Christmas Decorations. We need to store them and put them up. Today we share with you some ideas that we gathered for you for safe and optimal storage of your Christmas Decorations

  • Use clear and resealable bags to store ornaments that won’t break
  • Use empty egg cartons for the smaller ornaments and plastic cups for the larger ones. You can also use strawberry or blueberry plastic containers for some of them.
  • Shrink wrap your tree to reduce the space of storage
  • Shrink wrap your wrapping paper to keep it tight and avoid damage, so that you can use them again next year.
  • Make sure to wash all the Christmas stockings, mats and other fabric decorations to avoid moths and other insects or rodents that love dirty fabrics.
  • Use clothing hangers to store your wreaths and use a clothing rack or door hangers to store them hanging and avoid damage.
  • Store holiday pillows and blankets in airtight containers to preserve them and prevent odors.
  • Purchase a tangle-free Christmas light storage devise and use a piece of masking tape and a permanent marker to label each strand. Your note can indicate how long it is or where it was used for easy replacement next year.
  • It is a good idea to save the silica packages from new items that you get throughout the year and use them to store you Christmas decorations, these avoid humidity and potential mold issues. If you want to begin this year, you can buy silica packets on Amazon or online stores and these will absorb moisture.
  • How you decide to categorize is a personal preference. The important thing is that your decorations are sorted in a way that works for you, so you have peace of mind knowing everything is in order before you pack it away.

Bounus: If you used a natural Christmas tree, don’t put it in the trash container, find locations around the city to recycle it so that it is converted to mulch by the city.
