At PuroClean, we recognize that coming together as a community makes everyone closer. Small acts of kindness can go a long way, especially in our ever-demanding world. This year, inspired by National Superhero Day, we would like to spotlight some of the nominated heroes for our PuroClean CaresTM: National Superhero campaign.
These individuals have selflessly used their gifts to uplift, motivate, and make their corner of the world better. As part of our nationwide campaign, we highlight their contributions and express our profound gratitude for their generosity. Through their work, we acknowledge their bravery and hope their stories inspire others to give back and improve their communities.
Thank you to all franchise owners and home office team members who participated in the selection process! The following are some of the heroes who were selected in their local markets across the PuroClean network:
Honoring Heroes Across the Nation
A skateboard extraordinaire and great friend, Brandon Turner is a professional skateboarder and local hero nominated by Tyrone Thomas of PuroClean in San Diego and Spring Valley, CA. After overcoming addiction and alcoholism, he founded the organization West Side Recovery, which helps other young adults conquer their struggles.
As the Executive Director of The Caring Place, Corinne Freeman, a seasoned Licensed Advanced Practice Social Worker, doesn’t cut corners when helping those who are less privileged. Her organization has helped homeless people get back on their feet and achieve success. With over 70 volunteers and 174 “Getting Ahead” graduates, the organization has served over 1500 households this month alone. Charles Atkins, a PuroClean franchise owner in Cleveland and Nashville, TN, nominated her.
Genuinely dedicated to improving the well-being of her family and community, Michelle Martin is a middle school principal for children with disabilities, whom PuroClean franchise owner Sadiq Isu of Hilliard, Reynoldsburg, Westerville, OH, and Eugene, OR, nominated. She has stood by her husband’s side as he fought cancer and is a devoted mother of two children while completing her doctorate.
Julia Jones of PuroClean in Bradenton and Sarasota, FL, nominated Sandra and Mark LaFlamme of Canines for Heroes. Their organization trains dogs to assist veterans and first responders in coping with the challenges of combat and community service. After completing training, they carefully match the dogs with veterans and first responders in need within the community.
A true hero at heart, Matthew Van Hagen of Merced City Fire was nominated by Noel Cornejo, a franchise owner in Merced, CA. Matt is committed to his community in his professional and personal endeavors. He always seems to find a way to bring people closer together and bring out the best in everyone.
Greg Arianoff of PuroClean in Hilo, HI, nominated law officer and dedicated community member Michael Sailer for this year’s Superhero Day campaign. Michael has been serving in the police department for six years and has taken part on the force in several high-profile arrests. His lifesaving efforts earned him Officer of the Year after he saved a tortured and kidnapped victim from dire circumstances.
Nothing says hero more than someone willing to teach others how to defend themselves, such as Robert Lee. The retired Coast Guard and current gym owner of Cross Collar Jiu Jitsu was nominated by Izzy el Kehal of PuroClean in Houston, TX. In addition to teaching others self-defense, Robert is highly involved in local community efforts.
Our educators are perhaps some of the most unrecognized heroes among us, which is why it’s important to spotlight individuals like Kathy Li, owner of The Goddard School of Sugar Land. Nilo Quiroz, owner of PuroClean in Southwest Houston, Sugar Land, and Province, TX, nominated the outstanding educator for organizing community educational events, such as hurricane safety speeches.
Roger Gauert of PuroClean in Lancaster, PA, nominated dedicated veteran and policeman Paul (PJ) Price. PJ is nothing short of outstanding. His résumé includes serving in the Civil Air Patrol, Army National Guard, and as a PA State Trooper assigned to the Lancaster Patrol Division. He’s also served overseas as part of the 110 Infantry Division in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
A philanthropist, volunteer, and advocate for marginalized communities, Vice President of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce Jess Davis is one hero who should not be overlooked. Jess works tirelessly daily to foster unity and support local businesses and organizations. The PuroClean team in Kingston, NY, nominated this exceptional woman for going above and beyond her traditional leadership duties.
The PuroClean Home Office team in Tamarac, FL, has highlighted firefighter James Murad as their hometown hero. Throughout his years at Tamarac Fire Rescue, he’s shown outstanding proficiency and bravery, especially when handling medical emergencies and saving lives. In addition to his heroic duties, he is committed to nurturing the next generation of firefighters and cadets (ages 14-18). He serves as the lead instructor of the local Firefighter Cadet Program.
We are proud to announce that the following three candidates have been voted as contenders for the national award: Sandra LaFlamme of Canines for Heroes, Brandon Turner of West Side Recovery, and firefighter James Murad of Tamarac Fire Rescue. Congratulations!
