South Florida Business Journal held its CFO Awards on Thursday, May 12, 2022. The annual event, featuring a prestigious list of corporate sponsors, honors South Florida’s top financial leaders, strategists, and trailblazers who positively impact the local economy.
Our Chief Financial Officer Duane Marker was recognized at the ceremony and won in the $50 Million – $225 Million category. Marker joined PuroClean in June 2017 as the Corporate Controller and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in September 2018.
Marker’s accomplishments have contributed significantly to PuroClean’s growth and profitability. Thanks to his innovative strategies, we have strengthened our position in the market, which has helped us overcome various business challenges.
Last year, Marker’s key PuroClean achievement was a 50 percent decrease in DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), resulting in a solid cash position with a significant debt reduction. Additionally, he and his team implemented new financial software to provide more timely reporting and improve management visibility.
Meet Duane Marker, 2022 CFO of the Year
Duane Marker is a native of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He received a B.S.B.A. degree in accounting from Waynesburg University and earned his MBA at Nova University. His childhood aspiration was to become a professional baseball player. His previous stint at Sony has led him to travel to Japan over 30 times. At one point, he even spoke conversational Japanese!
Marker’s indispensable advice to protégés is to learn the business inside and out to become a business partner who can fortify the entire team. One important lesson he’s learned from his mentor is not to focus on monetary rewards and recognition; keeping your goal in sight is what truly matters.
Marker has played an instrumental role in growing PuroClean into one of the leading restoration companies in the nation. He’s a respected leader, and his peers hold him in high regard. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and look forward to what the future holds. Congratulations to Duane on his well-deserved honor.
