It is not uncommon to have a water line break under a kitchen sink that may go unnoticed at first. Sometimes they are a slow leak, sometimes the plumbing line breaks, and it is a big leak. We recently did a job like this in Hilliard, Ohio. In this case, the water leak was not sudden, but caused damage to the kitchen sink cabinet, the flooring in front of the cabinet, and the drywall in the finished basement underneath. There was even some wet carpet in the basement as well.
Dont Let That Water Sink In!
We arrived on site quickly to evaluate the damage and develop a strategy for the restoration. This home belonged to an active family of four. Since both of the adults had jobs outside the house, they were not home all day. This explains why they may have not noticed this water damage sooner, but it also put in place some minor constraints for our restoration.
Our crew completed the dry out in 3 days. We had to remove the base and sides of the kitchen cabinet, dry and save the hardwood flooring in the kitchen. What’s more, we also had to remove some drywall (which had its coat of paint deformed by the water) and insulation in the basement walls below the kitchen. Thankfully, we were able to save and dry the carpeting in the basement.
After the demolition, we proceeded to make the necessary repairs. We were able to save the other kitchen cabinets and the front face of the kitchen sink cabinet, just replacing the shell under the sink. We also replaced the drywall and insulation that was removed in the basement. The house was restored and was looking even better than its original condition!
Underneatyh the sink, water damage is visible to the base, back, and sides of the cabinet. 
Water damage causes the paint on the wall to bubble up. 
The carpet in the basement was wet from the water damage above.
