They say “when it rains, it pours.” It’s true! very often, in the disaster restoration business, certain problems can lead to other problems. Recently, a local woman called us for a restoration job. Her HVAC flooded and there was water damage as a result. And, as is often the case with water damage, mold growth came along with it.

The job began with some unexpected difficulties. We had to work a little harder to communicate with the customer and her insurance company. Fortunately, our capable team was patient and able to resolve all matters and move into the site quickly. But, then – as our luck would have it – the homeowner’s canine best friend, escaped right out the front door when we arrived! Our dedicated project manager drove around the neighborhood to make sure the runaway pup was brought back home safely.

Next, with everyone safely inside, our team assessed the noticeable damage the leak had caused. The total affected area wasn’t terribly large in square footage. However, our crew, using state-of-the-art equipment, detected microbial growth underneath. Unfortunately, this required a second insurance claim, which added another layer of complexity to the situation.

Our team had to do some demolition on the walls. The structure had actually weakened too much for our team to simply dry it out. During the demo, we constructed a temporary counter space for the residents so they could still use areas of their home. Once the microbes were sanitized, we reconstructed the affected areas.

The many layers involved with this job pushed the time frame out to taking over a month to complete. But, we grew very attached to this client and think of her as family. She was ultimately very satisfied with the care and compassion she received from the team and the quality of the work we provided.
