Mold Growth Causes Overnight Problems for Our PuroClean of Honolulu Team

There’s an old saying that nothing good ever happens after midnight, but at PuroClean, we like to break the “mold,” and prove people wrong. A mold growth job from this past year had the team working hard, well past midnight, to complete the job. We don’t know if it’s worth changing the saying, but at the very least, we can certainly say that some (really) good things happened after midnight in this instance.

A Moldy Situation with a Tight Deadline? No Problem!

A chain store with over 1,000 locations around the United States discovered some mold growth in one of their Oahu locations in the last year. The business, located in a shopping center in Waikiki, hired us to complete the mold remediation in just one weekend. What made this job even more interesting was the company wanted the store opened during regular business hours. So, our team had to complete all of their work after hours. Oh, and did we mention this all happened as the COVID-19 pandemic was raging? Although it wasn’t going to be easy, our dedicated team of night owls was up to the task.

Though mold remediation was nothing new for us, the biggest challenges involved the daily setting up and taking down of the equipment combined with the late hours. Each night, our technicians arrived between 9-10 pm, when the store was closing, to get all the merchandise covered and quite a bit of scaffolding set up. Because of the store’s size, layout, and amount of merchandise, this task was a huge undertaking.

While the rest of the island was peacefully sleeping, the team worked through the early morning hours to clean as much of the mold growth as they could. Between 7-8 am, they had to wrap it all up, dismantle the scaffolding and equipment, and be on their way so that the store could open at 9. Our technicians worked hard, adjusting their normal hours for the weekend for the sake of our clients and to complete the job. The outstanding professionalism and diligence shown by our technicians led to meeting the deadline for another satisfied client.
