JULIE HOLTON: The temperatures are dropping and whether you love the cold or not, winter is coming. Steve Scott of PuroClean is here with a few safety checks for chasing away the chill in your home.
STEVE SCOTT: The best way to safeguard your home is to prepare it for winter. Cleaning out your gutters is an easy way to prevent clogging and ice damming. Disconnect outside hoses to avoid water freezing, that could leak back into your house. Outside water sources should also be shut off until spring. Professional inspections are just as important. Before the ice and snow, have a pro look at your roof to repair any shingles that might be loose. It is also important to have your fireplace and furnace checked each year. Be cautious when using space heaters. Make sure that they are cleaned, well maintained, and positioned away from any fire hazards like drapes or blankets. If a pipe does burst or you have a problem give us a call.
