Team Effort in Storm Aftermath Expedites Tree Removal for Elderly Customer

The community always comes together to rebuild after a storm. Whether it’s a massive storm or a smaller one, an all-around effort is launched to put everything back together. This is especially important to our elderly or disabled neighbors, who might need extra assistance. After an October storm caused trees to fall on an elderly man’s trailer and vehicle, PuroClean was all-hands on deck to help with the tree removal.

PuroClean Team was ‘All In’ to Assist with Tree Removal

On Monday, October 11, 2021, a storm rolled through Fountain County, producing winds up to 65 MPH. The storm caused significant damage to Attica, Indiana, about 30 minutes southwest of us. Two days after the storm, we received a call from an insurance agent for tree removal services; trees had fallen on an elderly man’s trailer and vehicle. The man had no family in the area to help him, and no local tree removal companies were able to get to him in a timely manner.

Our crew sprung into action as soon as the phone call ended. Our franchise owner, Jerry Beck, who also owns an excavation company, postponed his day’s excavation project to help the homeowner with his tree removal. Unfortunately, we found out soon after the team was dispatched that there was a powerline tangled in one of the trees. The power company would not be able to make it out until the next day.

This wasn’t good enough for our team. Jerry, always resourceful and determined to help the homeowner as soon as possible, phoned a friend and within two hours a crew arrived to fix the powerline! Teamwork always makes the dream work!

By noon, Jerry, assisted by Project Manager Matt Booth, and Lead Technician Tyson Swinhart, was able to start the tree removal process. Both Matt and Tyson had rescheduled their days in order to get the mess cleaned up and tarped before the rain moved back in later that evening. Our Marketing Manager, Jessica Fishero, was also onsite during the tree removal, speaking to the homeowner and insurance agent, and lending a hand in the clean-up process as well. It’s truly a team effort at PuroClean of Lafayette!

The entire job, including tree removal, cleanup, and tarping the roof to prevent further damage was completed by 5 pm. The agent and homeowner were extremely pleased with the speed of our response and the quality of our work. The homeowner even got some entertainment out of it; he expressed how much fun it was watching the crew work.
