When we arrived, we entered the home to inspect the damage that was reported. It didn’t take long to see that there were obvious signs of mold growth along the ceiling in the entrance of a bathroom. But, it didn’t just stop there. Mold was found within the cabinets, behind the mirror, and all over the drywall. We knew that the affected areas would need to be removed.
In truth, the leak also damaged the bathroom door and much of the paint on the walls in the bathroom, so there was less incentive to try to preserve the structures. We removed the ceiling, as well as the adjacent wooden trim that edged the area. After, we removed the sink to access the cabinets, separating it from the wall and disconnecting the plumbing. Finally, we removed all of the drywall in the bathroom.
The next step was to sanitize and deodorize the affected areas, ensuring that all the mold was eliminated. Since we removed much of the materials in these areas, there was not as much mold present by this time. With that taken care of, the areas that were deconstructed in the remediation were rebuilt. Within a week, the job was completed and the bathroom was looking better than ever.
