We inactivate Coronavirus COVID-19 via a unique fogging (room temperature misting) system that addresses airborne and surface contamination. Find answers to your frequently asked questions below!
“Coronavirus” is an umbrella term for many types of viruses that have been known to cause respiratory diseases in both people and animals. The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19; previously 2019-nCoV) is a new strain that has been recently discovered and publicized worldwide. Human Coronavirus COVID-19 infections can be transmitted by airborne or surface contact:
The coronavirus pandemic is still spreading and world leaders in government and health experts continue to urge citizens to follow strict and particular measures for protection. Yes, our system meets the EPA Criteria (emerging pathogens claim) to be effective against Coronavirus-Wuhan (COVID-19).
Not available to the general public. It is a patented biohazard-specific chemistry system originally developed by a national laboratory for the US military. PuroClean Northwest is trained in the proper use and handling of all materials and equipment.
Wiping down every surface is labor intensive and thus doubles and even triples the cost per square foot while not providing the complete protection of fogging –
There should be no open food containers, no loose papers on desks, no pets or aquariums, remove or cover children toys and pet toys, people vacated. We require the HVAC system be turned off during treatment, then we turn it on after treatment. Smoke detectors should be temporarily disabled. Our team will wear PPE (personal protective equipment) suits, respirators, and gloves.
The PuroClean Northwest Terminal Cleaning Fogging Service will inactivate all Coronavirus on our initial visit. There is a residual positive effect after treatment as the disinfectant rests on all surfaces, remaining for a period of time after we leave.
It is common to have the Terminal Cleaning done quarterly, with maintenance of high-contact surfaces handled by local staff or personnel daily, while observing all general normal precautions. This is a good balance between cost and risk.
Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces are the recommended actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, like coronavirus. Since any surface can be re-contaminated after cleaning, and because the coronavirus is also spread person-to-person, PuroClean’s services are not guaranteed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) for more information regarding coronavirus, its spread, and prevention.
We understand that a biohazard event can be stressful and sensitive and must be handled with empathy, care and discretion. PuroClean restoration professionals are fully licensed and certified to follow all applicable laws and standards to remediate incidents safely.

It has been publicly announced that the spread of COVID-19 is caused by individuals who are in close contact with each other (within about 6 feet), through the projected respiratory droplets that are blown into the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The tiny droplets land in the mouths or noses of others who are nearby. It is also possible for these droplets to be inhaled into the lungs. This is why COVID-19 is believed to spread most commonly from person-to-person.
It may be possible for someone to get the COVID-19 virus after touching a surface with the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes. The CDC confirms the possibility of the disease being spread in this manner.
