Recently, the team at PuroClean of Plymouth Meeting provided mold remediation in Collegeville PA for a married couple attempting to renovate an old home. The house was built in the 1700s, and it had issues with water/humidity and, consequently, mold. Here’s how we helped restore this colonial home to its former glory.
Providing mold remediation in Collegeville, PA
The initial cause of the water and mold issues was flooding from Hurricane Ida. The devastating storm caused the home to be inundated by five feet of water. One could imagine that, after some time had passed, water damage and mold growth were significant problems in the house.
Once we were called in, we immediately started the mold removal job, which first involved identifying the source. This was tricky, as mold can grow anywhere there is moisture — and there was a lot of it throughout the home. Once we identified the source, we took the necessary steps to safely, effectively, and thoroughly remove it.

One of the big challenges of this job was that we had to provide heat in the house until the new HVAC system was installed and running. The HVAC company would not work on getting the heater up and functioning until the mold was gone. This is understandable, given how dangerous mold exposure can be.
We provided our own heat using the newly purchased Dri-Eaz Dragon. This diesel-powered machine can generate a lot of heat in a room, aiding our water damage restoration efforts.
The starting temperature inside the home was in the 20s. However, we maintained a rise of 50 degrees in temperature on most of the first floor using the Dri-Eaz Dragon. Because the temperatures inside were maintained above 70, the dehumidifier was able to run efficiently.
In addition, our crew removed all mold growth on walls, furniture, and other surfaces. We made sure to contain the affected areas (basically the whole first floor) before performing any mold removal services in the Collegeville home.
We started on a Saturday and worked through the weekend to complete the mold remediation by the next Monday. The team pulled together to restore the property quickly and efficiently.
