Preventive Measures to stop the spread of COVID-19

It is important to take proactive measures to prepare for possible impact of the outbreak of coronavirus. The preventive advice from the CDC is essential to minimize the spread of the virus.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
• Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds would be the best recommendation.
• Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable.

COVID-19 is new and novel, at this time no government-registered disinfectant products have been tested against this strain and no product labels have existing kill claims. Some good news is that Coronaviruses such as COVID-19 are enveloped viruses, meaning they are one of the easiest viruses to kill with the appropriate disinfectant product. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and CDC state that if an antimicrobial product can kill a small, non-enveloped virus it should be able to kill any enveloped virus.
