“Coronavirus” is an umbrella term for many types of viruses that have been known to cause respiratory diseases in both people and animals. The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19; previously 2019-nCoV) is a new strain that has been recently discovered and publicized worldwide. PuroClean of East Portland uses the PuroClean RapidDefense™ system to provide deep mitigation cleaning in areas compromised by a Coronavirus or Influenza outbreak. Using this process, the team at PuroClean of East Portland will carefully contain the area and will minimize the risk of pathogens spreading using The Environmental Protection Agency-registered (EPA) products. If there are any lingering odors, our trained technicians will deodorize the area and return your Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA area property back to its pre-loss condition with empathy and care.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to rise and health and government officials notify people to take necessary measures to protect themselves, one of the best ways to slow its progression is by performing deep mitigation cleaning of all touch-point surfaces, along with the use of an EPA-registered disinfectant. These cleaning procedures can be used for institutions, commercial, and residential properties. Our coronavirus cleaning services will limit contamination related to the COVID-19 outbreak. Call your local PuroClean office with any questions on how we can help clean your affected area.
It has been publicly announced that the spread of COVID-19 is caused by individuals who are in close contact with each other (within about 6 feet), through the projected respiratory droplets that are blown into the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The tiny droplets fall into in the mouths or noses of others who are nearby. It is also possible for these droplets to be inhaled into the lungs. This is why COVID-19 is believed to spread most prevalently from person-to-person.
As stated by the CDC, there is a possibility that someone can contract COVID-19 by touching a surface or object where the virus exists and then placing their hand on their own mouth, nose, or even their eyes.
To begin, we conduct a full assessment of your property. We will determine the containment level needed and inform you of our action plan.
When we arrive at your home or business we’ll do an inspection to confirm the area is ready for PuroClean’s cleaning services. We will plan the flow of work and perform the cleaning as efficiently as possible.
While Puroclean is working on biohazard removal, full attention and adherence to safety, industry, and OSHA standards is highly important. Also, our biohazard removal is addressed by technicians who will wear appropriate protective equipment, also known as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). The technicians will section off the areas to undergo the cleaning process, using caution so as to protect customers, their families, and PuroClean employees.
First, wearing proper PPE is a requirement. Our cleanup technicians wear a full-face respirator to guard against splashes coming in contact with the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, or eyes. PuroClean professionals also wear Biohazard protective coveralls, shoe covers, and Nitrile gloves.
Our industry-certified professionals use EPA-registered hospital-grade disinfectant products, including towelettes, composed of pharmaceutical ingredients that meet OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standard against diseases like COVID-19 and other disease-causing bacteria, viruses, tuberculosis, mold, and mildew.
The typical cleaning materials used by our technicians include:
Depending on the circumstances, Puroclean technicians apply EPA-registered hospital grade disinfectants using three methods.
Synthetic carpets, rugs, curtains, and upholstery – Our technicians will either clean these items manually or, for machine cleaning, they will use approved disinfectants for textiles and carpets and then remove spots where applicable.
Natural fabrics, curtains, upholstery and rugs require cleaning that is in accordance with the guidelines of the manufacturer.
Important: Washing machines should always be disinfected after contaminated items are washed. For the disinfecting of clothing, linens and other personal fabrics, contaminated articles are to be laundered per instructions on each label.
Leather tanned materials: PuroClean can clean these materials by using disinfectant towelettes for wiping the surfaces with a lightly dampened cloth.
Nu-buck and suede leather material: These garments are to be cleaned in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction.
Concrete, cinder block, wood, plywood, and oriented strand board (OSB) – Cleaned by placing the disinfectant solution directly onto the surface.
HVAC system – HVAC internal duct surfaces and components should be cleaned in focus with industry guidelines by a licensed HVAC contractor or NADCA certified duct cleaner. External ductwork surfaces, grills, grates, and registers should be cleaned with a disinfectant solution.
It is common for odors to dissipate when the affected areas are clean and begin to dry. However, the PuroClean technicians will decide if further cleaning and deodorization is required.
We understand that a biohazard event can be stressful and sensitive and must be handled with empathy, care and discretion. PuroClean restoration professionals are fully licensed and certified to follow all applicable laws and standards to remediate incidents safely.
RESPECTFUL: Our certified biohazard cleaning technicians treat every affected area and item professionally and respectfully, as if it were our own.
HIGHEST STANDARDS: PuroClean uses proven products approved to provide protection, reduce the risk of spreading pathogens and prevent contamination.
ADVANCED CLEANING SYSTEM: Our RapidDefense process disinfects and even reduces virus and other pathogen-based contamination in nearby areas. This is an innovative procedure that we use in order to disinfect public places as effectively as possible.
Before PuroClean professionals vacate a property that was contaminated by the coronavirus, they will completely clean all tools, PPE, and cleaning items that were used while performing coronavirus cleanup, using a hospital-grade, EPA-registered disinfectant.
Per the CDC, Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces are the recommended actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, like coronavirus. Since any surface can be re-contaminated after cleaning, and because the coronavirus is also spread person-to-person, PuroClean’s services are not guaranteed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) for more information regarding coronavirus, its spread, and prevention.
