In 1790, Alexander Hamilton, of recent theatrical fame, proposed to Congress the establishment of the First National Bank of the United States. Recently, a toilet in a National Bank, in Richmond, overflowed. For an entire weekend, this fourth-floor toilet overflowed with no one around to stop it. Luckily, the bank was not throwing away their shot, and called PuroClean to save the day!
When the Toilets Are Overflowing, You Can’t Make a Deposit at the Bank
When a toilet overflows after closing time on a Friday, the water has two and half days to spread. This particular toilet, as mentioned, was located in the bathroom on the 4th floor of the bank. This means that over the weekend the water cascaded down into the lower levels, as well as in between walls, and into the ceiling. Thankfully, we were called in on Monday morning to begin right away.
Our technicians entered the building once the flooding was stopped. We began by using our advanced pumping machines to extract the standing water. Once this process was complete, we disposed of the water properly, off-site. We worked through the night and were able to start the drying process the following day.
To focus on drying, we installed dehumidifiers and air moving machines in all of the rooms that were affected. We did this since the humidity in the air can be just as damaging as standing water. After we measured the moisture levels, and they were at an acceptable amount, we removed our equipment.
After 5 days of water remediation, we passed along the remaining reconstruction to a general contractor hired by the bank. The bank was very pleased with the work we had done and for the speed at which they were able to resume normal operations.
