Our Story

Josh Nelson, owner of PuroClean of South Reno, says he loves Reno because of its ‘Biggest Little City’ feel, and the way it packs all of the benefits of big city life into a small package. With ~500,000 in population for the area it is normal to meet friends of friends almost everywhere you go. As a resident and member of the community in South Reno, Josh wanted to open a business that not only met his personal goals and intentions but something that would allow him to give back to the community as much as possible. He looks forward to helping people in their most difficult hours in order to return to their lives to normal as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Josh, his wife and two young children, moved to the Reno area from New England in 2017 after having been here for a year before in 2003. They enjoy boating in the summer and skiing in the winter. Josh loves seeing the world through his kids’ eyes. “We spend as much time as possible exploring the outdoors in this amazing area. Every Sunday is family day. [We go] exploring as often as possible…seeing  all that this great area has to offer.”

When Josh and his family moved into their home in Reno, he recalls a water damage issue. Josh says, “I was simply trying to hang [a rack in the laundry room], and when I put a screw into what I thought was the stud it turned out to be a copper pipe from the hot water heater.. It sprayed hot (at first) water through the wall and everywhere in the laundry room, soaked all of the drywall, down into the subfloor and into the crawlspace…spraying for about 20 minutes.” After finally finding the main water shutoff valve in a new/unfamiliar house, we soaked up as much water as possible and placed fans everywhere, trying to be fast and efficient. He was not, at the time, aware of what remediation companies offered, so never had a professional out to his home. Now he plans to find out what might really be going on behind the walls in his laundry room, fix the problem correctly and help others in similar situations.

Indoor water mishaps are common, but because of the heat and dry climate in Northern Nevada, fires are a regular occurrence. Also, mold can be an issue because of improper ventilation in crawl spaces and other confined areas. PuroClean of South Reno is ready to tackle all of these issues and also to help businesses remain safe, clean and open, keeping the economy moving throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is a primary goal of getting the PuroClean business started.
