Stinky Semi-Hoarding House Mess Solved by Puroclean Romeoville in 1 Day!

Out-of-state owners needed dirty home cleaned up fast!

This month, PuroClean of Romeoville received a call from the new owners of a local house. They needed help removing the junk left in the house and giving it a good cleaning to prepare it for sale, because they didn’t intend to keep the property. The three-bedroom home is located in Romeoville, IL, but the new owners live over 5 hours away in another state – and they had only one weekend to get this all done. We needed to get to work fast! 

We were able to get a dumpster delivered to the home prior to starting work on the semi-hoarding remediation, so we would be ready to get to work right away. The evening before we started the big semi-hoarding remediation, we met the owners at the property to come up with the best plan to clear out and clean up the house. On top of just moving out junk, they were also very concerned about removing pet odors from the home. We dropped off a HEPA air scrubber equipped with an activated carbon pre-filter to help remove the pet dander/hair/odors from the air.

Moving can stir up a lot of things you don’t want to breathe in.  The HEPA filter removes dust, mold, viruses, and other harmful particles in the air while the activated carbon goes to work on removing odors.

The following morning, we arrived with a truck (to assist in case the on-site dumpster got full), trash bags, and all of the cleaning supplies we would need to get this done. We started off hauling out the big items and bagging trash. Then we used a HEPA vacuum to remove the dry dust and debris prior to wiping down surfaces with a disinfectant cleaner.

Because the owners were concerned about the odors that were being held in the floor, we recommended that the damaged laminate flooring be removed as well, to which they agreed. After we removed the stinky flooring, we used a disinfectant to clean and deodorize the underlying floor materials.

At the end of the day, we worked hard to make it easy for the new home-owners. The junk was gone, the house was clean, and the homeowners were happy.
