Cascade in El Cajon: PuroClean of Clairemont’s Swift Damage Response

Water Restoration

In a neighborhood in El Cajon, a sudden pipe burst in a bathroom put a couple of homeowners in distress, prompting an immediate response from our dedicated team at PuroClean of Clairemont. A crew led by one of our experienced lead technicians, Ryan, was quick to arrive on the scene to assess the extent of the water damage, which had unfortunately spread to the hallway and master bedroom. Here’s how we tackled the situation.

Initial Assessment and Containment

Upon arrival, our team conducted a thorough inspection to identify all affected areas. To prevent further damage and contain the moisture, we quickly erected plastic barriers around the impacted zones of the hallway, master bedroom, and bathroom. This first step is crucial in stabilizing the environment and better facilitate the drying process.

Drying and Monitoring

Our next move was to deploy advanced drying equipment, including 1 dehumidifier and 4 air movers, strategically placed to maximize air circulation and moisture removal. Over the next 3 days, our team diligently returned daily to monitor the progress, adjust positioning, and ensure everything was functioning as expected. We were pleased to find that the tile floor responded well to the treatment, successfully drying out and being preserved, saving the homeowners from additional expenses.

Demolition and Preparation for Rebuild

After confirming the effectiveness of our drying efforts, we shifted our focus to the removal of unsalvageable materials. We placed a HEPA air scrubber to minimize dust and maintain a safe working environment for our technicians. Our detailed demolition process included the careful removal of a damaged bathroom vanity and the strategic shoring up of the countertop with precisely cut 2x4s to prevent additional damage.

In the hallway, we removed the carpet and padding, taking samples to send to Itel Laboratories to ensure a perfect match for the repair materials. We also executed a two-foot flood cut, removing the damaged drywall and soaked insulation, and properly disposing of all the debris.

Detail Cleaning and Final Drying

With the bulk of the demolition behind us, our team embarked on a meticulous cleaning process. We used HEPA vacuums to remove all dust and particles from the structure and flooring, followed by an antimicrobial spray treatment to prevent future mold growth. A thorough wipe down ensured the area was spotless and ready for the rebuild process.

To make absolutely sure that the area was completely dry, we repositioned our drying equipment to run overnight, targeting the newly exposed surfaces. By the next morning, the property was dry, clean, and ready for the rebuilding process to begin.
