In July 2023, a young couple living in a Pacific Beach apartment discovered a copper pipe leak in the bathroom. The leak caused category two water loss to the flooring and walls.

When we arrived, we realized that asbestos testing would be necessary since we learned the apartment was constructed in 1975. Thankfully, the test results returned negative, ensuring we could safely continue the job.

The restoration process started with the contents pack-out of the bathroom and the construction of a containment area to prevent further damage.

Then, we removed the drywall, insulation, and wall tiles and detached the toilet for easy access to the source.

All affected sections were treated with antimicrobial agents to ensure the area was safe and free from harmful microorganisms. We strategically used a dehumidifier, two air movers, and one air scrubber to expedite drying and prevent mold growth.

While our team carried out the restoration meticulously, a unique challenge arose with “Deeply Bound Water” in the wooden framework. This issue extended the project duration to six days, longer than the average completion time for similar projects. However, our team’s perseverance and dedication ultimately prevailed, and we successfully extracted the water. Kudos to our hardworking crew on a job well done!
