Factory Fire: Tikis Torched

People should associate the words “torch” and “fire.” A properly working example of the former just isn’t the same without some of the latter. So, of course, torches are extremely flammable. And, it would be easy to see that if something were to go awry, a torch production facility could be prone to major fire damage. When a large-scale compactor ignited a blaze in a Menomonee Falls tiki torch factory, our crew at PuroClean was there to light the way.

Restoring the 87,000 square foot facility

This factory already had a preexisting relationship with PuroClean. In mid-April, they reached out for a tier-2 COVID-19 cleaning for their factory. Evidently, the owner was sufficiently impressed with our service on that job. When this fire struck their facility a few months later, they contacted us right away to mitigate the fire damage.

This was the first big job for our newest Waukesha Marketing Representative, Don – with a major emphasis on the word “big”. Originating in a large-scale compactor, the fire spread throughout the 87,000 square foot manufacturing facility.

Our crew arrived and got to work immediately. Our project manager, Kevin, along with his crew members: Anthony, Carlos, Rebeca, and Taylor, performed a pack-out. This is the process where we take inventory of all items within the facility and move them off-site. We then determine which items can be salvaged and which need to be replaced, for insurance purposes.

With the factory cleared out, our crew could mitigate the fire damage unobstructed. First, we deodorized and sanitized the building, removing all traces of corrosive soot and smoke. Next, our team used mobile lifts to repair damaged scaffolding on the ceiling. Because of the sheer size of the building, this aspect of the job took the longest.

In total, we finished the job in only two weeks’ time and we, once again, impressed the client with the final results. According to Kevin, the client is beyond happy with the fire remediation, and claims he can barely tell it even happened at all.
