Thanksgiving is a time to gather and be thankful for the wonderful family and friends who are in our lives. It’s a time to reflect on the good fortune and blessings from the past year. It’s also a time of giving back to the less fortunate. At PuroClean of Wilton | Ridgefield, we have a lot to be thankful for, and we chose to spend our Thanksgiving morning showing our thanks by sponsoring and participating in the Boys and Girls Club 40th Annual Turkey Trot.
PuroClean Participates in Boys and Girls Club 40th Annual Turkey Trot
On Thursday, November 25th, Thanksgiving Day, we woke up raring to go and ready to give back to our community via the Boys & Girls Club 40th Annual Turkey Trot. The temperature was a crisp 30ºF when we left for the race. By the time we arrived at the starting line and were ready to begin, the temperature heated all the way up to 33ºF. We handled the cold as we had to represent for PuroClean as servant leaders. The Boys & Girls Club does very important work daily, and this was our chance to show up for them.
There were about 1,400 runners. Our team was compiled of eight friends and family members. There were some notable appearances from our friends at ASZ International Insurance Agency and the NYC Building Department. We had some personal rivalries going, but it was all in the spirit of fun, community, and giving back!
The race got started with some excitement when the Grinch made a guest appearance, trying (unsuccessfully) to steal the Turkey’s thunder. They announced all of the sponsors, and we were so proud to hear our name and see our logo on the big banner and the race t-shirts. Prior to the gunshot announcing the start, a local youngster sang a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, both inspiring and pumping up the participants.
Finally, the signal sounded and the race was underway. Ridgefield’s finest led the way from the start. The course was hilly, and the temperature did not help make the run any easier. We joked about how we did not have to feel guilty eating pie later in the day. In the end, our placements were not the best, but at least we did better than those who stayed in bed. We are proud of showing up and giving back.
There was some friendly banter about placements, and it’s possible some money may have changed hands. We will use initials to protect the innocent AR: 226 26:29, MF: 389 29:03, JF 767 34:59 JZ 801 35:39, MZ 802 35:39, JR 865 39:07, JK 874 193 39:37.
We are looking forward to making this an annual tradition of giving back for Thanksgiving; we can’t wait for the 41st edition next Thanksgiving! Thank you Mike Flynn from the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield for allowing us to take part in this great local event!
